About us

Aksense consists of a group of experienced scientists and entrepreneurs innovating in the Biotech space. Aksense has developed the first portable diagnostics biosensor to identify healthcare-associated infections in minutes, enabling accurate diagnosis and treatment, saving time, money and lives.

Currently supported by SOSV. We are interested in talking to potential investors in this space.

The Leadership Team

Dr. Asiye Karakullukçu, PhD

Dr. Asiye Karakullukçu, PhD


Dr. Asiye is a clinical microbiologist and has over a decade of experience with infection diagnosis in hospitals. She has undertaken many types of medical research and published countless articles in international medical journals. 

She discovered a new technique for infection disease diagnosis and won several grants to set up the Aksense.

Asiye is leading the financial process of Aksense.


Mürsel Baydemir


Mürsel joined Aksense from a healthcare provider, where he was responsible for biochemistry laboratory management. He has experience in technical leadership and holds an engineering degree in chemical and environmental. 

Prior to Aksense, Asiye and Mürsel worked together in hospitals, and have known each other for over 12 years.

Mürsel is leading the technical process at Aksense.


Dr. Serap Yeşilkır Baydar, PhD

Biological Engineer

Dr. Serap is a scientist in the field of Bioengineering. She has experience in research, development, diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices ranging from clinical equipment to pharmaceutical drugs and therapeutic biologicals.

Asiye and Serap were classmates at the university, and have known each other for 16 years.

Serap is leading the engineering processes at Aksense.

Main tasks:

  • Building and implementing functional programs for bioelectronic diagnostic systems
  • Producing clean, efficient code based on specifications
  • Testing and deploying programs and systems
  • Fixing and improving existing software
  • Developing mobile applications

Eligibility requirements:

  • Knowledgeable about biosensors (essential)
  • Graduated from Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering
  • Have at least basic knowledge of electronic components
  • Experience with microprocessors
  • Experience with ARM and Renesas processors
  • Experience in the communications industry (RS232 / 422/485, Ethernet, Bluetooth)
  • Can use Altium, Orcad or similar PCB design tools actively
  • Ability to test circuit and circuit elements
  • Have advanced command of embedded hardware development with C / C ++
  • Experience in hardware development methods and coding
  • Knowledgeable about microprocessor control
  • Have experience in Agile frameworks and popular coding languages

  • Specialising in data modeling
  • Computational modeling for proteomic and genetic analysis

Eligibility requirements:

  • Strong experience with biological databases,
  • Strong knowledge of Python,
  • Spark knowledge would be good but not required,
  • B.Sc. in Bioinformation, Sciences or Engineering,
  • Master’s or PhD would be good but not required,
  • Experience in machine learning or data modeling is a must,
  • Experience with ETL processes would be good

Main tasks:

  • Responsible for reviewing regulations are followed in the development and the sale of medical devices as well as liaising with other departments
  • Prepare the documents for CE and FDA applications, and complete the regulation process
  • Draw up technical documents required for new product approval and existing product change
  • Coordinate with the licensing authorities and the internal departments of the company

Eligibility requirements:

  • Strong communication skills. Communicate with the team and company at all levels
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and understanding of medical device products
  • Ability to understand and explain laws and regulations
  • Meticulous character with considerable patience
  • A logical thinker


  • English reading/conversation skills
  • Domestic and overseas medical device licensing experience
  • Clinical trial experience
